I feel as if I am in a different land. Recently, my computer has been acting up on me and I have been worried that I would have to get a new one. It was a major anxiety for me, but since my computer was five years old, I knew that it would be coming up soon. I looked into updating the OS on my MacBook Air, but it no longer can have this happen. Apple has decided to create a system that only works for their newest computers. This really pissed me off and I decided to finally look into PCs. My boyfriend has been wanting me to do this for a long time. He felt that Macs once were leading in their systems, yet PCs have caught up and even surpassed them.
So, we ventured to Best Buy to look at some computers. We did some online research before and then headed out. I needed to have a great screen quality because of my use of visual imagery, I wanted a cd/dvd burner drive in order to burn cds for teaching packets, good storage and a screen that was large enough to have an image and a small video playing. (I usually watch movies while I paint and need to see the image as well).
Well, I found one that works great. Still under the price of a MacBook Pro, I found one that had twice the storage space, runs faster, 15 Inch HD screen, touch screen and windows 8. I would have to say that I really have enjoyed it so far. It was a pleasant surprise to realize that I like a PC. I was a hardcore Mac person.
I had really debated going over to a PC. One thing that is a little annoying about it is that there are different programs. I have to get new software for my image programing and my Pages documents now need to be exported as word documents. This will take some time but will work. I also am getting a new external because mine is old and was formatted for my Mac. It won’t show up on my PC, so I have to finagle it onto another drive before getting my images and files.
Now that I have a new laptop, I get to make a new cover for it! I am excited to have an excuse to sew something. Here are some inspirations for this project:

This one is more of a cover that folds. I want to make one that has a pocket. I like the strap on it though.

I have some fake wood grained material that I want to use for it. It is going to have a fold over top and an attachment that will hold the power cord when I need it.
I asked for other’s opinions on Mac vs. PC before I purchased my laptop. Do you have a major opinion on the subject?

I was always a pc person, then got a Mac last summer. There are things I like about both, and things that drive me batty about each, too. I wish I could take the text editing and file management systems of the pc, and the ease-of-use of the mac and combine them into one awesome machine.
I have been going back and forth between the two systems as I transfer everything. It has been interesting to learn about what I have to get used to and what is exciting about the new system. I have noticed that I keep touching the screen of other computers and feel silly about it after. The windows 8 platform has already got me used to it and it has only been a few days.
